Katherine Penney

Katherine Penney studied in Germany gaining a diploma before graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine and Applied Art from the University of Ulster in 2005. Since then she has pursued a career as a professional artist and works as an art advisor within the Mullan Gallery Belfast.

After Graduating Katherine held a one year bursary from the Belfast print workshop, this was award gave her the unique opportunity to use the workshop facilities free of charge in order to further her printmaking career.

In 2006 Katherine was commissioned by Arts and Business Northern Ireland to produce an original piece of work for RHM Commercial, a property consultancy based in Belfast. This proved highly successful, creating new avenues within the art world.

Katherine's profile has grown considerably within the last two years. It includes a group exhibition in The Engine Room Gallery Belfast, The Mullan Gallery Belfast and as far reaching as China where her work was selected as part of the Cead China touring group exhibition.

The Art's Council for Northern Ireland awarded Katherine a Support for the Individual Artist Award at the beginning of 2007, this has enabled her to continue to develop her art work.

In 2007 Katherine was commissioned to create a new large scale work for Experian, a well known international finance company. The work will be held in the collection in Experian's Dublin Head quarters.

Katherine began a two year Masters in Multi-Disciplinary Design in September 2007.
